* contains spoiler; you may skip til the end of the summary
The Grace family has just moved to The Spiderwick estate. The house they're moving in belongs to their Aunt named Lucinda. With the grim look of their Aunt Lucinda's house, siblings expected something worst. Worse than the worst look of Aunt Lucinda's house.
The Grace siblings Jared, Simon & Mallory starts their fantastical adventure upon their discovery of the Field Guide. The Field Guide they've found is a book about fairies written by their relative Uncle named Arthur Spiderwick. Jared, who found the book from the secret passage of their house, decided keep it. Not knowing the consequence of keeping the Field Guide, the siblings have experienced strange happenings in their house. But with Jared reading the Field Guide, he uncovers the truth behind the strange happenings.
At the end of the book, they meet Thimbletack upon revisiting the room where Jared found The Field Guide.

After finishing the story, you will be surprised with more illustrations. Illustration of creatures in the next The Spiderwick Chronicles book 2 - The Seeing Stone (see below):

I fancy the extra illustration of the book. It'll help young readers with their imagination about what's happening in the story. For parents who read story book with their kids before bedtime, I highly recommend this book. This book is an easy read and the illustration in some pages is a great companion for you to easily explain what's what with your children.
I'm giving this book a good rating of: 4.0 / 5.0
